Roof Repairs

Sanders Home Improvements installs and repairs gutters. Gutters will protect your home basement from the destructive effects of rainwater and snowmelt. Water damage from improperly pitched gutters, undersized gutters or clogged gutters is one of the most expensive and most common disasters that a house can suffer. Rainwater can literally destroy your house’s foundation, flood your basement and destroy everything it soaks into. Broken, bent, or clogged gutters during a rainstorm will likely cause your sump pump to run non-stop as it struggles to move water away from your home. The constant water dripping at the bare minimum will eat away decks stains, and given time eventually eat right through the wood.

One of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your home from flooding is to have properly sized install gutters set at the right pitch, and a downspout system that transports the water away from the house. If trees are near your house, gutter guards are a must. They will keep your gutters clear of leaves and debris, and ensure that water continues to drain away from your foundation.

Soffit & Fascia

Sanders Home Improvement installs soffit which is critical to a house’s environmental integrity for the roof to withstand the elements.

Soffit is the overhanging area between fascia and siding also known as the eaves. An exterior soffit is located on the span beneath the rafter tails,  Eaves that have soffits are part of the attic venting system that helps keep your attic airflow constant so it doesn’t overheat in summer. Soffits will help extend your roofs life and helps lower heating bills.

In the past soffit were made of wood which required of course regular maintenance – painting  – which generally speaking people don’t keep up with. They generally don’t have any venting whatsoever which means no attic airflow.

Modern soffit has thousands of holes in each piece which allows air to flow up through styrofoam ridge vents over the insulation and into the attic.

It’s important that no animals like wasps, hornets, bats, or birds find an opening in your soffit. Make sure there are no holes or cracks in your soffit – if you do find damage or holes you should get it repaired promptly.

If your professional noticed that they’re beginning to deteriorate or have sustained damage, have them repair or replace the soffit and fascia immediately. Otherwise, the overall stability of your roofing system can be compromised. The tell-tale signs that it requires repairs or replacement are usually peeling or flaking paint, evidence of rot, or pest infestation on the roof. And that’s where Sanders Home Improvement can help you out.

FASCIA

You hardly see it from the road, but soffit and fascia are crucial elements to keeping your house dry.

Fascia is the piece that the gutter attaches to. It’s the bank of wood or clad aluminum or vinyl that attaches to the end of roof rafters. In older homes especially, the fascia needs to be regularly inspected for peeling paint, as well as proper caulking. Keeping gutters cleaned will prevent rot, as otherwise, backup water will flow over the edge and onto the fascia.

If the fascia is constantly wet, or if it’s left unpainted it will eventually rot. Eventually, insects will find their way in, especially paper wasps. You may end up with a completely infested attic and home. They could eventually eat their way through drywall and into main living spaces. Squirrels love to work their way into an attic through the fascia.

Sanders Home Improvement offers modern solutions to the worn-out wooden fascia by replacing it with modern no-maintenance vinyl fascia. That means lifelong beauty and fascia-related issues for the life of the house.

Toby and his guys do great work. They did a full tear-off, reshingle and added ridge vents for our roof in 7 hours. They cleaned up thoroughly and his prices are very competitive, especially for the high quality work. Thank you!

Toby came out the day after my initial phone call to give an estimate for a piece of fascia that blew off. He made a brand new piece and replaced it the next day & did it all well below competitors’ prices! Thanks for the great work!!

Kilea Steinke

Our roof started leaking in the guest bedroom of our newly refurbished house. Thankfully Toby and his team were able to do an excellent repair job even matching the shingles! We are so fortunate he was able to repair this in such a reasonable time. If you are looking for great service with great prices this is what you’re looking for! Thanks again Sanders team!

Siding

Siding is one of the most cost-effective ways to dramatically and immediately improve a home’s exterior appearance and value quickly. It’s cost-effective because it eliminates the need for maintenance – no more painting wood or aluminum.

The cost of energy will never go down. If your old siding is removed, drafts can be eliminated using a lightweight, versatile wrap called Tyvek®. It is resilient and durable, Tyvek® defies convention so you can defy the odds. From personal protection and weatherization to packaging and transportation, Tyvek® rises to the challenge— keeping the elements out while letting life in.

Another important upgrade that can be used prior to placing the new vinyl interior is styrofoam. Styrofoam can go right over old wood siding, insulating the entire exterior wall span—not just the space between the wall and the studs—minimizes thermal bridging and maximizes energy efficiency. It will lower your energy bills. At Sanders Home Improvements we offer a range of high-performance insulation products that provide:

  • High, long-term R-value
  • Exceptional moisture resistance
  • Excellent compressive strength
  • Long-lasting durability and performance.
